Series I - archetype
Series I WaterRower, as the name suggests, is the first design that started it all. Created in Rhode Island, the models from the first series presented themselves to the world as a characteristic, original water rowing machine for stationary training. An innovative idea with a water reservoir that started a revolution in the rowing training market, and since then the WaterRower brand has tightened its fist in the fitness world by implementing improvements and continuing the development of the rowing machine. Water reservoir, footrest, seat, front riser, rear spacer, computer and Dolley wheels. This is how the WaterRower adventure began and continues today with ambitious plans for the future.Series II – upgrades
Model A US; the footrest was one piece and the heel support and foot strap were adjustable via a series of screw holes in the footrest. The keys (trapezoidal elements connecting the footrest, upper and lower deck) are made of wood.
Model B US; The footrest was two pieces, the heel rest was attached and the foot strap slipped between the two halves of the footrest. The keys (trapezoidal elements connecting the steps, upper and lower deck) are made of steel. When it comes to rowers from Britain, we are dealing again with two variations. The differences between them are really negligible and can only be seen by the trained eye. It does not affect the overall perfomance of the device, the changes are cosmetic.
Model A UK; The footrest was one piece, and the heel support and foot strap were adjustable through a series of screw holes in the footrest. The keys (trapezoidal elements connecting the footrest, upper and lower deck) are made of wood.
Model C UK; was very similar to the model A and can be recognized by the following features. The footrest was in one piece, and the heel support and foot strap were adjustable through a series of screw holes in the footrest. The lower deck (connected to the tank) was made of black plastic (rigid urethane foam).
Series III – one idea
The WaterRower Series 3 is primarily the beginning of the end for the current rowing revolution. One type of design for the whole world, which was only improved in the next series with a more modern monitor. S3 did not provide us with a huge revolution, once again we were tempted to introduce only cosmetic changes and the emphasis was on the development of computer functions and ergonomics. The footrest is one piece, the heel rest is adjustable through a series of holes, and the foot strap can be adjusted by sliding in the groove. The keys (trapezoidal elements connecting the steps, upper and lower deck) are made of steel. The backplate of the monitor has two different versions, SIII V1 and SIII V2. Version 1 (WRPC110) The housing has an RS232 port at the end of the spigot tube. Version 2 (WRPC110) has a D RS232 connector port on the back of the case.
Seria IV – cherry on top
The fourth series of WaterRower rowers, compared to the third series, is distinguished only by a new, improved monitor, which affects the general perception of the device and allows you to read additional parameters. It is the perfect culmination of the product that revolutionized the fitness market and allowed for the perfect representation of rowing training. Two versions of the S4 monitor were created.Version 1 vs version 2
In July 2010, we changed the way the Series 4 monitor connects to the computer. Instead of a 6 pin mini DIN serial port to a 15 pin DIN serial port, we now use a mini-USB port to a USB port.
How do i know which version i have? If your serial number (located on the silver sticker on the back of the monitor) is 52045 or higher, you have the latest version. If it is or below 52044 then you have the original with a serial port connection. Another easy way to check the version you have is by looking at the slot in the upper right corner on the back of the monitor. (diagram on the right). The old serial port connector is circular with 6 holes for a 6-pin connector. The new one has a small rectangular connector.
